RUFOUS-MORPH RED-TAILED HAWK

December 12, 2007. Wink Gross and I found this Red-tailed Hawk on Oak Island Road near mile post 2. The head, neck and throat appeared even redder in person. This fits the Rufous-morph adult as shown in Hawks of North America by Clark and Wheeler, plate 25A in the 2nd edition.
