American Avocets
Very surprising to find 3 American Avocets at Broughton Beach today. They are always uncommon in Multnomah County and very odd to find them anywhere in Oregon this late in the year.

I wonder from what breeding area they wandered here from. Perhaps they even came north from more tyical non-breeding staging/wintering grounds to the south.
