Squirrel-proof birdfeeder
This is supposedly a squirrel-proof bird feeder but this young squirrel found it quite easy to go in and out of the small spaces of the cage. I imagine in time the squirrel will get too large to get inside the cage, but I hope this doesn't end like the Aesop's fable of the mouse who ate too much and got stuck in a box after eating too much.

I love your tale- we have experienced pretty much the same thing and reached the same conclusion as your daughter. I wouldn't mind feeding the squirrels if they weren't such pigs!

I'm convinced that if someone does manage to invent the squirrel-proof bird feeder, the apocalypse will happen the next day. In the meantime, we'll all be feeding squirrels.
