7/2/07 After our last panga ride to shore, the Sea Lions that were sleeping along the path did not move as we all stepped over them, a good reminder that this place belongs to the animals.
7/1/07 Fernandina. Brown Noddies have a habit of perching on Brown Pelicans. Here one perches on the head of a Brown Pelican while a Blue-footed Booby is taking off from the water behind them.
7/1/07 Fernandina. This Galapagos Penguin was sitting on the shore across a small inlet when our guide, Edison, began calling it. The penguin promptly responded, both calling back and swimming over to our side.
7/1/07 Fernandina. Punta Espinoza is the visitor site on Fernandina, the youngest of the Galapagos Islands. Several Green Sea Turtles were swimming in the small bays.
7/1/07 Several Bottle-nosed Dolphins swam at the front of our boat early in the morning of our last full day on the islands. They are highly active, capable of great speed and amazing acrobatics. They range from about 2-4 meters in length, and weigh up to 650 kg.
6/30/07 Espanola. The Blue-footed Boobies on nests would occasionally get up and adjust the eggs, then gently place their feet on them before sitting back down.
6/30/07 Espanola. This 2 week old Waved Albatross chick was the first born on the island. The parent was extremely attentive and kept preening it in a very gentle way.
