WESTERN SCREECH-OWL

June 24, 2008. Amy was up at 5:15AM to get these photos. The first shows the adult at the top right, and it looks like the owlet nearest it has a bug sticking out of its mouth while its sibling next to it reaches up to the parent.

RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER

June 19, 2008. We had never seen a Red-breasted Sapsucker in our yard until about a week ago but since then we've been seeing one most evenings. It's a very welcome guest.

June 19, 2008. At around 4PM my daughters Lisa and Amy came home and found 3 owlets peaking out of the nesthole. Only later did they see the parent perched just outside the hole.

BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES

June 3, 2008. Our Black-capped Chickadees chicks are now about 2.5 weeks old and are starting to really look like chickadees. The two parents continue to be very good providers, constantly bringing in food to the nestbox, and the little ones make a lot of noise begging for food whenever they do.
