Swans Sauvie Island

At Coon Point on Sauvie Island today there were 144 Tundra Swans, with many immature birds with pink bills.  At least 2 Trumpeter Swans were there also, identified by voice and bill structure.  Their longer necks were also apparent.

Rock Sandpiper, Rhinocerous Auklet, hungry gull and Great Blue Heron

A Rock Sandpiper was hanging out with both Surfbirds and Black Turnstones on Barview Jetty.

A first winter Rhinocerous Auklet (with an oddly large bill) landed in the channel at Barview Jetty.

This gull made no progress in swallowing this seastar while we watched it at Barview Jetty.

Similarly, this Great Blue Heron made no progress in swallowing this fish at Bayocean.
